'''Shane''' is a minor character and was [[Freddie Benson]]'s "nerd" friend in the [[Season 2]] episode, [[iSaw Him First]]. Shane was played by [[James Maslow]], who is also known for being "James Diamond" in Nickelodeon's [[Wikipedia:Big Time Rush|Big Time Rush]] and a member of [[Wikipedia:Big Time Rush (band)|a band with the same name]]. He is currently the gym teacher at Ridgeway Junior High School.

== Biography ==
At first, [[Carly Shay|Carly]] and [[Sam Puckett|Sam]] believed he was a nerd because he was a member of the AV club with Freddie, but when they find out that he was attractive, they competed for his affection. Then things went haywire, resulting in Carly and Sam getting into an argument over who got to date him. Shane decided this was too much for him and he got to leave the studio, only to fall down the elevator shaft, leading him to be hospitalised. Subsequently, a post on iCarly.com revealed he developed a fear of talking to girls with the name "Carly" or "Sam."

Fifteen years later, Shane recovered from his injuries and started working at Ridgeway as a gym teacher. At the reunion, he reunites and agreed to supervise Carly in P.E. after she found out she needed to pass in order to officially graduate. She failed the requirements but he passes her after Carly gives him medicine for his allergy to wasps while redeeming herself in the tests. It is also revealed Millicent is in his class and forced her to serve at the reunion as detention.

== Physical Appearance ==
Shane is a very tall, well-built, and strikingly handsome young man with tanned skin, dark brown hair parted on the left side, and hazel eyes. He is usually wears a short-sleeve black T-shirt under it. He also wears light gray jeans, red and black sneakers.

In [[IReunited and It Felt OK]], he is seen with shorter hair slicked back and he wears jeans and a white t-shirt with a black jacket. He is also seen with a whistle around his neck as he is now a gym teacher.

== Personality ==
As demonstrated in the episode, Shane is initially shy around girls, as seen in the school, where he got a lot of attention from other girls. He was sometimes described as "geeky" as he got excited by technology and sci-fi, but also good at acting, kind, athletic and helped with housework.

Carly and Sam held a contest where the first one he kissed got to date him, he wanted to kiss Carly, but was initially too shy to do so, however, he eventually overcame this shyness and would have kissed her, but when Carly attempted to embrace Shane and kiss him for real, both were interrupted.

As an adult, Shane was very serious about his job and wouldn't just pass Carly without actually doing the test.

== Kissing Contest ==
Since [[Carly Shay|Carly]] and [[Sam Puckett|Sam]] both saw him first at exactly the same time, they decide that whoever kisses him first gets to date him. They eventually start fighting, and Shane begins to like neither. He then falls down an elevator and is taken to the emergency room. According to an [[Who did SHANE really like best?|iCarly blog]] a doctor at the emergency room found a note in his pocket that that listed the positive qualities of Carly and Sam:

There is an online game for players called "iKissed Him First" based on "iSaw Him First." You have to drag Carly's lip kisses to Shane when Shane's heart points to pink color, and you have to drag Sam's lip kisses to Shane when Shane's heart points to blue color. If you make a mistake, he will get confused more and more with a "?" sign over his head.

At first, he liked Carly and it was very mutual. Then he figured out her and Sam's plan and he hated that they fought over him. While he was unconscious at the hospital, she planted a kiss on him. Shane appear to have enjoyed the kiss.

At their reunion, she is over her crush as she now has a boyfriend. He still seems irritated with her because of his injuries and her view on his job, which she makes fun of and he doesn't remember it being her elevator shaft he fell down. Despite that, Shane is grateful to Carly when she saves his life from a deathly wasp sting, and gives her the credits she needs to graduate.

Shane was good friends with Freddie and was in the AV club with him. See [[Minor Ships|Frane]]. They weren't seen hanging out again but do see each other at their reunion many years  later. Although Freddie isn't impressed with the way Shane is talking to his daughter Millicent, until Shane tells Freddie Millicent is actually serving detention and not volunteering like she had previously told her dad. Shane and Freddie help Carly to do the test, although she originally fails.   

==Trivia==
*In reality, it is unlikely a person would survive an ten-story fall down an elevator shaft, or at least not without lifetime injuries.
*Shane appeared in [[iReunited and It Felt OK]], where he has become a gym coach and got injured again.
*Shane does have a soft spot for Carly and helped her complete physical education to get her high school diploma in Ridgeway.
*Shane is deathly allergic to insects with stings, as revealed in [[IReunited and It Felt OK]].
*Shane has almost died twice in the series. First in [[ISaw Him First]] - when he fell down a broken elevator and was left in a body cast for at least 6 months - and again in [[IReunited and It Felt OK]] - when he is stung by a wasp which he is deathly allergic to.
*It is revealed in [[IReunited and It Felt OK]] that Shane was in a body cast for at least 6 months after falling down the elevator in [[ISaw Him First]].
