"I'm kind of afraid of cats." |
ICause A Cat-Astrophe is the eighth episode of Season 3 of iCarly (2021), and the 31st episode overall. It premiered on July 13, 2023.
Synopsis[]
Carly and Harper attempt to make Tinsley feel more welcome in the friend group. Spencer is invited to build an art piece for the Seattle Cat Museum, much to Millicent's delight and Freddie overcomes a secret childhood fear.
Plot[]
The episode opens with Carly and Harper getting ready to throw Tinsley a jewellery party in their apartment. When Tinsley shows Carly some earrings worth $80,000, Tinsley decides to give them to Carly as they are friends and Carly faints when she finds out how much they are.
In Spencer's apartment, Harper thanks Carly for throwing the jewellery party for Tinsley. Spencer is watching cat videos for inspiration for his latest sculpture for the Seattle Cat Museum fundraising gala. After Harper leaves, Carly shows Freddie, Spencer and Millicent the earrings she got from Tinsley but doesn't know what to do with them as she is afraid to wear them so decides to buy a safe to keep them in.
Carly decides to donate the earrings to the upcoming gala to help the cats that are living in the streets so takes Millicent with her. At the museum, Carly and Millicent meet Myrtle, a kind woman who loves cats and is thankful for Carly donating the earrings. She gives Carly and Millicent a private tour of the museum as a way to thank them.
Later Carly finds out from Tinsley that those earrings were a gift from her late grandmother so is determined to get them back for her without her knowing they were donated. At the auction, Carly asks Freddie, Harper and Millicent for help to steal back the earrings but Freddie's fear of cats causes him to be unable to turn off the alarm and Tinsley finds out what Carly did, hurting her feelings.
Carly apologises to Tinsley for donating the earrings as she thought she didn't want them and was just going to throw them away. Tinsley forgives Carly after she stands up to Myrtle for her and is grateful that Carly stood up for her. As a thank you, Tinsley buys back the earrings for Carly to have and keep and the episode ends with the group having dinner at the event.
Subplot[]
Spencer has been asked to create a new sculpture for the upcoming gala which is being held at the Seattle Cat Museum, named the Edin-fur-a Castle and Freddie reveals the real reason he doesn't want to go to the event is because he has fear of cats, which started when there was a cat in the wall of the Bushwell. Spencer decides to help Freddie by giving him feline exposure therapy, which involves Spencer dressing up as a cat and dumping on Freddie, much to his horror.
Spencer tries all he can to help Freddie overcome his fear as Freddie wants to do it for Millicent, but is scared when Spencer jumps on him. Spencer puts Freddie in a giant ball of yarn and rolls him around in it to try to help him although he is scared. Freddie almost overcomes his fear until Butterscotch the Cat climbs on him at the gala.

Freddie: I'm kinda afraid of cats. I guess it started when I was a kid and there was that cat in the wall of the Bushwell. |
Spencer: [to Freddie] Well feline exposure therapy didn't work. I rubbed my butt on you and everything. |
Millicent: You all should be bowing! |
Freddie: [about the cats] They just wanna play, they just wanna play. |
Freddie: Spencer, how about you and Millicent just go? I feel like you two should spend more time together. |
Freddie: You look beautiful. |
Millicent: Keep it together, Mills. Its just a cat. |
Carly: I only fainted once. Spencer: [laughs] Carly: Hey its not funny. I could have hit my head. Harper: You did hit your head. [Freddie looks at Carly worriedly] Carly: What? Spencer: I'm not laughing at your hilarious head injury. Did you know if you search 'funny cat videos' into Google, some funny stuff comes up. |
